A consultative working session to develop the legal frameworks regulating social hospital institutions to accommodate the elderly

Mrs. Iman Al-Zahwani Hoymel, Minister of Women, Family and the Elderly, stressed today the necessity of diagnosing the reality of the institutions directed to this category of all kinds, including private institutions, convalescent centers and elderly care centers, during the consultative working session devoted to setting the legal frameworks regulating social hospital institutions to accommodate the elderly. Noting the possibility of drawing on the pioneering experiences in a number of European countries in this field, taking into account the specificity of the national reality

She indicated the ministry’s keenness to work according to a participatory approach with the relevant government structures, components of civil society and the private sector in order to unify efforts and develop a common vision that responds to the needs of the elderly group in terms of health care and social briefing.

The attendees recommended developing a classification of the activities of these institutions and creating a legislative and legal framework regulating them, stressing the need to meet the conditions of infrastructure, competent human resources with high efficiency, logistical resources and the quality of services provided.
